Treatment of fungal vaginitis

Fungal vaginitis can be treated with drugs such as clotrimazole vaginal tablets, miconazole nitrate suppositories, nystatin vaginal suppositories, fluconazole capsules, and itraconazole capsules. Fungal vaginitis is usually caused by Candida albicans infection, long-term use of antibiotics, low immunity, hormonal changes during pregnancy, and poor control of diabetes.

1. Clotrimazole vaginal tablets

Clotrimazole vaginal tablets are suitable for vaginal infections caused by Candida and can effectively inhibit fungal cell membrane synthesis. Local burning or itching may occur after use. Pregnant and lactating women should use it under the guidance of a doctor. During treatment, sexual intercourse should be avoided and the vulva should be kept clean and dry.

2.Miconazole Nitrate Suppository

Miconazole nitrate suppository exerts a bactericidal effect by destroying fungal cell membranes and has a significant effect on Candida albicans infection. Vaginal irritation may occur, so those with allergies should use with caution. It is recommended to use it before going to bed. 7 days of continuous medication is a course of treatment. At the same time, you need to change breathable cotton underwear.

3. Nystatin vaginal suppository

Nystatin vaginal suppositories are suitable for stubborn fungal infections by binding to fungal cell membrane sterols to cause content to leak. Common adverse reactions include local redness and swelling, and it is contraindicated in patients with severe liver and kidney dysfunction. During medication, you should avoid using sanitary pads and wash your vulva with warm water every day.

4. Fluconazole capsules

Fluconazole capsules are oral antifungal drugs that interfere with ergosterol synthesis by inhibiting fungal cytochrome P450. It may cause headache or gastrointestinal discomfort, and it is forbidden to use it in combination with terfenadine. A single large dose can treat simple infections, while complicated infections require a longer course of treatment.

5. Itraconazole capsules

Itraconazole capsules are broad-spectrum antifungal drugs that are effective against both deep and superficial fungi. Be wary of hepatotoxic reactions and monitor liver function during medication. It is recommended to take it after meals to improve bioavailability. During treatment, possible fungal infections in your partner must be treated simultaneously.

Patients with fungal vaginitis should choose loose cotton underwear and change it daily, and avoid wearing tight chemical fiber clothing. Reduce the intake of high-sugar foods and supplement fermented dairy products containing lactic acid bacteria in an appropriate amount. Bath bathing and vaginal douching are prohibited during treatment. The prescribed course of treatment must be completed after symptoms disappear. If symptoms occur repeatedly, underlying diseases such as diabetes need to be investigated, and sexual partners should be examined and treated simultaneously.
