The presence of blood in the past few days of menstruation may be related to ovulation bleeding, endocrine disorders, gynecological inflammation, endometrial polyps, uterine fibroids and other factors. It is recommended to seek medical examination promptly and provide targeted treatment after the cause is determined.
1. Bleeding during ovulation
Ovulatory bleeding usually occurs in the middle of the menstrual cycle and is caused by a brief drop in estrogen levels that causes part of the lining of the uterus to shed. The bleeding is small and short-lived, and may be accompanied by mild abdominal pain. Generally, no special treatment is required, just rest. If it occurs frequently or the amount of bleeding is large, you can use progesterone capsules, dydrogesterone tablets and other drugs to adjust hormone levels as directed by your doctor.
2. Endocrine disorders
Long-term stress and disordered work and rest may lead to insufficient luteal function and abnormal postmenstrual bleeding. It often manifests as prolonged menstruation or intermenstrual spotting, which may be accompanied by symptoms such as mood swings and acne. It can be adjusted by improving lifestyle, and if necessary, using estradiol valerate tablets, ethinyl estradiol cyproterone tablets and other hormonal drugs.
3. Gynecological inflammation
Inflammations such as cervicitis and endometritis may damage mucosal blood vessels and cause contact bleeding. Bleeding is mostly dark red and may be accompanied by increased secretions, odor, or lower abdominal pain. Routine examination of leucorrhea is required. After diagnosis, Baofukang suppository, metronidazole vaginal effervescent tablets and other drug treatments can be used. In severe cases, cefixime dispersible tablets need to be taken orally.
4. Endometrial polyps
Endometrial polyps protrude from the surface of the uterine cavity and are prone to irregular bleeding due to friction after menstruation. The amount of bleeding may be heavy and sometimes light, and may be accompanied by increased menstrual flow. The diagnosis can be confirmed by ultrasound examination. Smaller polyps can be adjusted by taking levonorgestrel sustained-release intrauterine system. Larger polyps require hysteroscopic resection.
5. Uterine fibroids
Compression of the endometrium by submucosal fibroids may cause persistent postmenstrual bleeding, often manifested as prolonged menstrual periods and increased menstrual flow. The location and size of fibroids can be clarified through ultrasound examination. Those with mild symptoms can use mifepristone tablets to control their growth. If the fibroids are large or cause anemia, myomectomy surgery is required.
Daily attention should be paid to recording the bleeding time, amount and accompanying symptoms, and avoiding strenuous exercise and sexual life. Keep your vulva clean, choose cotton underwear and change it daily. In the diet, eat more iron-containing foods such as animal liver and spinach to prevent anemia, and avoid eating raw, cold and spicy foods. If the bleeding lasts for more than 7 days or is accompanied by severe abdominal pain or fever, you must seek medical attention immediately to check for emergencies such as ectopic pregnancy.
