For most of the acquired physiological wealth problems, scientific gym training can indeed improve or even eliminate them. However, if you practice incorrectly, it may get worse with practice. If it is already pathological, fitness alone is basically useless.
Two years ago, I took care of a 26-year-old girl who worked in new media operations. She spent 12 to 13 hours a day editing and writing articles in front of the computer. The bulge on the back of her neck felt as hard as a small walnut stuffed with it, and her head stretched forward very obviously. An MRI of her cervical spine said that it was just a straightening of the physiological curvature, and there was no organic disease. She was a typical wealthy person caused by upper cross syndrome. At that time, she started doing back exercises with heavy weights even before she even started the scheduled classes. It took her almost two weeks to change her breathing pattern, and then slowly added training on small muscle groups that are easily overlooked, such as the deep neck flexors, middle and lower trapezius, and serratus anterior. I had to help her after each exercise. She relaxed her tense sternocleidomastoid and upper trapezius muscles, and even changed her usual sitting posture and the angle at which she looked at her mobile phone. After practicing for less than three months, the bulge was basically flat, and the shoulder and neck stiffness that had troubled her for more than half a year was not a problem anymore.
But it really doesn’t work just by going to the gym and practicing blindly. Last year, an older brother searched for a post about "training your back to eliminate the wealth bag". After that, he went to the gym every day to do high pull-downs and deadlifts. He also increased the weight to his limit. Every time he practiced, he would hold his neck and shrug his shoulders to exert force. After practicing for three months, he came to me and said that the bag was getting bigger. I understood it as soon as I touched it. His upper trapezius muscles were stronger than before. The bulge originally formed by fat was covered with a layer of hard muscles, which made it look more prominent.
Nowadays, many people say that Fugui Bao cannot be eliminated by exercising. In fact, it is not unreasonable. If you have taken a radiograph, it shows that the cervical spine is severely arched, there is bone hyperplasia, or even the position of Fugui Bao has compressed the nerves. This kind of pathological change is definitely useless just by lifting irons. You must first see an orthopedic or rehabilitation doctor for evaluation and treatment. Follow-up fitness can only be used as an auxiliary maintenance method. If you do not go to the hospital and just rely on practice, it will easily delay the problem.
By the way, I would like to advise everyone, if you really want to go to the gym to change your posture, don’t blindly search for exercises on your own. The muscles and joints of the neck are too delicate. I have seen people practice weight-bearing neck bridges blindly following online videos before, and they fainted in the gym. If you really want to practice, it is best to find a coach who understands posture adjustment. Spending more money or less is a trivial matter, but injuring such a vital part of the neck is very painful.
