To put it bluntly, it is very simple. Reiki is a specific school under the broad category of energy healing. The two are included and included. The difference is mainly reflected in the origin, operating paradigm and inheritance requirements, but the core logic is highly homologous.
A while ago, a little girl who came to experience it for the first time came in and asked, "Do you use singing bowls or reiki for energy healing? I have made singing bowls before and they felt a bit noisy." Crystal arrangement and flower essence taken orally, as long as they are based on regulating the subtle energy balance of the human body to improve the physical and mental state, are all included in the category of energy healing. To put it bluntly, energy healing is a big basket, and any physical, mental and spiritual healing methods that follow the path of "energy regulation" can be put into it.
Reiki is the most disciplined type in this basket. It was first founded by Usui Ong-o in Japan in 1922. Now, whether it is the mainstream Usui Reiki or the later-derived Karuna Reiki, it has strict inheritance requirements. It must go through the "initiation" of the corresponding level before it can be operated. It also has fixed healing symbols, hand positions, and even supports remote healing. It cannot be started by just reading two tutorials. When I first learned the first level of Reiki, I practiced hand positions with my instructor for almost half a month, and had to complete 21 days of self-healing before I could be considered a master. It was completely different from the kind of pan-energy healing that can be adjusted casually based on body sense.
But having said that, the underlying logic of the two is actually completely consistent. They both believe that in addition to the visible physical body, people also have an invisible subtle energy field, such as the often mentioned chakras and aura. If the energy is blocked or imbalanced, it may cause emotional irritability, insomnia, and local tightness of the body, or it may induce organic problems. Of course, it must be made clear here. This is only a consensus in our field, and mainstream medicine does not recognize this statement.
Last month, a young man who worked on the Internet came to see me. He had been working on the project for three weeks in a row. He was so anxious that he started to panic in the evening. He went to the hospital to check the electrocardiogram and found nothing wrong. I did Reiki for him for an hour. The whole process was to press hands from the top of the head to the soles of the feet. In the middle of the process, he said that he felt a warm current slowly spreading out of the area on his back shoulder that was originally heavy. After the treatment, he slept for a full eight hours that night. Later, he bought a white crystal column by himself through Xiaohongshu. When he had nothing to do, he would hold it in his hand and take a deep breath, saying that he could feel relaxed. In fact, the operation of holding the crystal to self-regulate belongs to the generalized energy healing, and the Reiki I did for him was essentially to help him smooth out his tense energy state.
Of course, I have encountered a lot of doubters. My cousin is a cardiologist. Every time I talk to him about this, he laughs at me for "psychological comfort" and says that there is currently no scientific instrument that can detect the so-called "reiki energy." The relief experienced by the experiencer is either muscle relaxation or... In fact, I don’t refute the role of psychological suggestion. There is currently no rigorous academic research that can support the measurability of energy. We in this industry will never say that it can replace regular medical treatment. At most, it can be used as an auxiliary option for physical and mental soothing. If you are really feeling unwell, you must go to the hospital first.
For ordinary experiencers, there is really no need to worry too much about whether it is Reiki or other energy healing. As long as it is a formal institution and will not fool you into spending a lot of money to buy IQ tax products that "eliminate karma" or "change luck", and you feel comfortable and relaxed after experiencing it, and it can relieve your current anxiety, that is enough.
