Routine examination of leucorrhea can generally detect cervicitis. Cervicitis is usually caused by factors such as pathogenic infection, chemical irritation or physical damage. Routine examination of leucorrhea can detect changes in indicators such as increased white blood cells and abnormal cleanliness, but the diagnosis needs to be combined with cervical secretion culture or colposcopy.
Routine examination of leucorrhea uses a microscope to observe the number of white blood cells in vaginal secretions, the morphology of epithelial cells, and the presence of pathogens such as Trichomonas and Candida. When there is inflammation in the cervix, the cervical columnar epithelial cells will secrete a large amount of inflammatory exudate, causing the white blood cell count in the leucorrhea to increase significantly, and the cleanliness usually reaches III-IV degrees. Clue cells or bacterial vaginosis-related microorganisms can also be detected in some patients. For specific cervicitis caused by Neisseria gonorrhoeae or chlamydia infection, routine leucorrhea may reveal intracellular Gram-negative diplococci, but the diagnosis still requires nucleic acid amplification testing of cervical secretions. It should be noted that in postmenopausal women, due to reduced estrogen levels and cervical atrophy, routine leucorrhea examinations may result in false negatives.
It is recommended to avoid sexual intercourse, vaginal douching and topical medication 24 hours before the examination. You should keep your vulva clean and dry every day, choose cotton underwear and change it every day. If symptoms such as increased leucorrhea, abnormal color, or contact bleeding occur, HPV and TCT screening should be reviewed in a timely manner. During the treatment period, medication should be used in accordance with the doctor's instructions. Common treatment drugs include Baofukang suppository, nifuratel, nystatin vaginal soft capsules, etc. The specific medication plan needs to be determined based on the results of the etiological examination.
