In fact, the core difference is very simple - Reiki is a specific subdivision of energy healing. The two are included and included. Many people mistakenly think that they are two parallel types of healing methods. In fact, the publicity in the market often singles out the most recognized Reiki, which leads to this misunderstanding.
I have been practicing in the field of mind, body and soul for more than 6 years. I also made this joke when I first entered the industry. I went to an industry exhibition and saw that the booth was divided into an energy healing area and a Reiki experience area. I really thought they were two completely different systems. Later, I went to take the Usui Reiki Level 1 Certificate and talked with the teacher before I came around. Broadly defined energy healing is actually a very large category. As long as the underlying logic is that "there is subtle life energy in the human body, energy blockage and imbalance will be reflected in emotions and even physical discomfort, and physical and mental problems can be improved by regulating energy status." All healing methods can be classified into this category, as small as crystal healing and singing bowl sound therapy that you may have seen. , there are clear inheritances of shamanic healing, Kundalini awakening, and even some scholars have classified Qigong and guidance in our traditional Chinese medicine into the category of generalized energy healing. The threshold can be high or low, and the operating logic of different schools is very different. If you find two crystal healers from different schools, they may tell you different explanations of chakras corresponding to crystals.
Reiki is one of the branches with the highest degree of standardization in this large field. The most popular Usui Reiki now was integrated and founded by Mr. Usui Onao from Japan at the beginning of the last century. It has a very clear inheritance path, rank divisions, and fixed attunement rituals, healing symbols and operating hand positions. As long as the Reiki master has studied in the orthodox system, the basic operating logic will not deviate much. It is equivalent to the only community in the energy healing complex that has unified property standards. A client I had before was chronically anxious about the failure of her business in the past two years. She could only sleep for more than 3 hours a day. She tried several types of energy healing. She felt really relaxed after doing the singing bowl, but she returned to her original state after a day or two after going home. Later, she tried remote Reiki three times, and I taught her a few self-help techniques before going to bed. She persisted in doing the self-reiki hand position for half a month, and said that her sleep duration was stable at about 6 hours. Of course, I also told her clearly that this was due to the psychological suggestion of her regular practice every day, and also the reason why she slowly let go of her obsession with failure in starting a business. It could not be all due to reiki.
It must be made clear here that the entire field of energy healing itself is currently quite controversial. Most mainstream academic circles believe that there is currently insufficient evidence-based medical evidence to prove the existence of subtle energy. The effect experienced by most users is actually a placebo effect. Many researchers also believe that current scientific observation methods have not yet developed to the extent of capturing this subtle energy, and their value cannot be rashly denied. After all, a large number of users have reported that their emotional states have significantly improved, which is also an objective fact. People always ask me if Reiki is better than other energy healing. In fact, it is not necessarily true. I have met clients who have no sense of Reiki at all, but feel warm all over when they touch the crystals. I have also met clients who feel nothing when listening to singing bowls, and who cried for half an hour after doing Reiki. For people who have poured out all their pent-up emotions, these are essentially auxiliary tools for regulating their physical and mental state. They do not need to be judged hard, and they cannot replace formal medical and psychological consultation. If you really have physical or psychological problems, the most important thing is to see a professional first.
