The results of routine physical examinations can usually be obtained within 1 to 7 days. The specific time varies according to the physical examination items and the efficiency of the institution. There is no need to be overly anxious about waiting for the results.
If you are doing a basic physical examination package such as entry into employment or kindergarten, it only includes items such as routine hematuria, basic liver and kidney function, chest X-ray, and routine ultrasound. There are no additional special tests. Electronic reports from many community hospitals and public physical examination centers can be checked within 24 hours. I used to accompany my elderly family members to the community health center near my home for the annual free physical examination for the elderly. I had blood drawn on an empty stomach and had a B-ultrasound the morning before. The next afternoon, I received a call to get a paper report. Even the abnormal values of blood pressure and blood sugar were marked with a pen, which was very clear.
If the package includes items such as TCT, HPV, pathological biopsy, and specific tumor marker screening that require laboratory incubation and film testing, the results will take a little longer. After all, such items have strict testing procedures. When encountering samples whose values are stuck at the critical value, the laboratory will conduct a second review to avoid misjudgment. In this case, waiting for 3 to 7 days is within the normal range. There is no need to check the official account every day to check the results and remind customer service.
Nowadays, many people think that chain private medical examination institutions can produce results faster. Many brands advertise that regular packages can produce full reports within 24 hours. This is indeed an advantage of some institutions. However, there are also different opinions in the industry. Many doctors from public laboratory departments mentioned that in order to shorten the time for obtaining results, some private institutions will omit the step of reviewing abnormal samples. On the contrary, it is easy for missed diagnosis and misdiagnosis. Therefore, the speed of results cannot be regarded as the only criterion for judging the reliability of medical examination institutions.
If you are waiting for the employment report or have urgent matters to apply for a visa, you can ask the front desk in advance when registering for the physical examination if there is an expedited channel. When I changed jobs last year, I rushed to the deadline and told me in advance that I wanted to expedite it. I did a normal physical examination the morning before and got a stamped electronic report that afternoon. I sent it directly to HR and the onboarding process was completed. There was no extra charge. It was quite convenient.
