In fact, no matter how the skin type changes, there are always three core steps in daily skin care - cleansing, moisturizing, and sun protection. The remaining exfoliation, essence, and facial masks are all supplementary functions that can be added as needed. Not everyone has to follow the complete set.
When I helped my friends adjust their skin care regimen, I saw many novices following the so-called "complete seven-step skin care process" followed by beauty bloggers. It took 20 minutes just to add toner, essence, lotion, cream, and makeup primer on their face. As a result, they became bored within half a month. Later, I simplified the process to the core three steps and added a suitable functional essence, and the skin condition stabilized.
Nowadays, everyone is arguing fiercely about "should I cleanse my face in the morning?" There is really no standard answer. Many friends with dry or sensitive skin have personally tested that just rinsing with warm water in the morning is enough. It will not damage the sebum film just spent the night. After washing, the face will be moisturized, just in time to apply follow-up skin care products. ; Friends with oily or combination skin mostly think that they need to use a mild amino acid cleanser in the morning, otherwise the oil secreted overnight mixed with the fine dust on the pillow towel will easily block blackheads. Which one you choose depends on whether your face will feel tight and dry after washing. You don’t have to follow other people’s experience.
Don't think that moisturizing is just a matter of patting it on with water. Its core is to lock moisture into the skin, just like covering the skin with a breathable protective film. If you have dry skin in winter, just applying lotion is definitely not enough. You have to layer it with a strong occlusive cream or even beauty oil. Otherwise, the freshly replenished moisture will evaporate as soon as the wind blows, and your face will still be dry and cracked. ; If you have oily skin in summer, a light lotion is enough. If you apply it too thickly, it may cause acne. It all depends on your skin type.
Sunscreen is actually the most cost-effective anti-aging item in all skin care. Don’t think that you only need to apply it when the sun shines in summer. In winter, the intensity of ultraviolet rays on cloudy days can reach 70% of that in summer. A friend of mine insisted on applying sunscreen every day for three months last winter, and the light sun spots on her cheekbones that had been there for two years were much lighter. The effect was better than the whitening essence she had been using on and off for half a year. Don't underestimate this step.
As for exfoliation, acid brushing, and facial masks that everyone often talks about, they are more like "added meals" for the skin and do not have to be included in the daily routine. For healthy oily skin, it’s okay to apply a hydrating mask two or three times a week and exfoliate once every half month. If you have sensitive skin, you may feel redness and stinging even if you do it once a month. There is no need to force your face through the process. The most effective one is what suits you.
